It's a little challenging to try and tell you about myself.

Like my artwork, I feel like I'm a work in progress.

I turned 40 years old September 2004. My artwork reflects my life at the moment...Eclectic and thought provoking, with lot's of variety.

I'm a midwest boy, growing up in Washington, Missouri. I have a double bachelors degree in Advertising and Marketing. I found myself in Dallas, where I currently live, after graduating in 1988 from Southwest Missouri State.

After one brief year with a small advertising agency, I started my own t-shirt business. I designed under the label Jymwear Dallas for a little over 10 years. Selling to a national market was challenging but it left me wanting more creatively.

I took my hobbie of greeting cards and decided to see what I could make of it. Almost 6 years later, Jim Frederick Studios is growing strong with over 150 designs in both greeting cards and gift totes. New clients are constantly growing the business and I look forward to introducing the line on the West Coast as well as Washington, DC and Kansas City this summer.

The biggest surprise and my newest passion is my fine Art. I've not had any formal training in art and treat the whole experience like I do life...If it makes me happy, I do it!

In six years my art, I feel my art has grown by leaps and bounds - currently I'm expermenting with welding. My style is constantly transforming and emerging into new areas. My secret to success thus far? I give myself permission to fail.
