Humanity Show March 31rst/April 1rst

This is a teaser for the first studio show of the year, the last weekend in March. This piece along with at least 20 other new paintings will be premiered as part of Study on Humans, in there connection and or disconnection with each other. I'm expanding my thoughts from the I feel series...There are some things I've never done before. I'm also hoping to have some new sculpture work from my welding class!

Works Completed in 2005

The evolution of my art continued to expand into new pockets of creativity in 2005.

New subject matters helped me to learn something about myself everyday.

Organic, expressive layers of me on canvas...

Works Completed 2004

2004 was very exciting, I started painting more than I ever had. I dared myself to come up with new ways of expressing emotion on canvas...I know that probably sounds a little airy fairy, but hey...I'm an artist...I can do that

Works Completed 2003

These pieces are the next generation from my first paintings and the product of letting myself go. Lot's of experimenting and trying hard not to think about the process. Just doing it.
I feel thus far, 2003 was a turning point for my art as well as my life. I hope you can see how my art is maturing into itself. 2003 brought with it a lots of surprises and an opportunity to look a little deeper into myself.
You will also notice that I started to dabble quite a bit with mixed media

I Feel - A Study in Vulnerability

I Feel - A Study in Vulnerability

I think as an artist, I'm already putting a little of myself out there each time I put paint to canvas.
This project for me started with a poem I wrote, titled "Inside," after a recent difficult time in my life.
After writing the poem I visualized the image that is named, Standing in the Now, I couldn't get the image or the feeling out of my head or my heart. One week after my initial writing of the poem, I had two paintings complete, including Standing in the Now, and Standing Alone Together. I also had 3 sketches as well as 6 ideas for new works.
I realized then I was working on my first "official" project. And it needed to be handled with care, because the project was me.
I decided to take my very personal feelings and paint them. I'm finding it's easier for me to describle thru painting then thru words, those things that are my life right now.
And so this study is about me, but it's about all of us...it's about the process of letting go and letting be. It's the realization that the only way you can ever gain control of your life, is to let go of control. I hope this project sparks something in you, as it has me.

Firsts

Firsts

This Gallery represents first works inspired by nothing more than just wanting to "escape" and have fun. Like sinking into a good book or watching a great movie, I found painting on canvas a kind of meditation.
It's funny, I'd tell friends I was painting and they immediatley asked what my style was. I didn't know then, and I'm not sure I know now.
I think I enjoy the idea of not being able to be defined. That makes me a work in progress. And that promise to myself means I'll always be expanding my talents into new styles and techniques.
These works are those completed from Fall of 2000 to Winter of 2002. They are my first attempts of expressing myself!
Enjoy!

These paintings were sold over the last 3 years. If you have one of these paintings, I'd love to get an installation pic of the piece in it's new home!
