I had an entire entry planned for this night, but, I'm tired and many of you have been emailing me asking me to post the pics of what the painting looks like in it's new home...But, there are other shots that I will add this weekend. I just can't organize it all tonight before bed...
So, here it is...Majestic is in it's new home...

This is by far the biggest challenge and coolest thing I've done in my very young painting career!
Thanks to Mike and Shelly for having the confidence in me to make it reality!
So, don't go anywhere, because more big news about Majestic tomorrow!!!
I leave for Dallas Sunday morning. Pop and I will be smoking a cigar on the deck and doing ribs on the grill all day tomorrow!
Like I said, more news to come on Majestic...this is a little teaser for you!!!
I DID IT!!!

I'm sorry if I kept some people in the dark last night...I was very excited about the painting, but, didn't want to say a lot before Mike came over to put the release on the painting...
He loved it and we made plans to hang tonight.
These are pics that my nephew Nathan took while I was putting the final touches on the sidess.
It looks like if I made the right additions that there are 53 layers on the painting...I'm going to add it all up one more time...wish I could have done something even, but hey...what are you going to do!
So, I'm on my way out the door with my neice and nephew and Mom to paint ceramics.
Mike comes by late this afternoon to pick up the painting. I'm going to my nieces softball game, then after the game we are all going over to install the painting...it's done...it's almost up...
It's very cool...I'm really happy.

Ok, I've put the wash on the painting and a varnish as well as the first coat of black on the sides. I feel good about it...now it's just seeing what Mike and Shelly think.
I'm not going to take any pics of it until Mike gives his approval on the final.
He will be by before dark I believe...stay tuned...

First of all it's hot. It's still not as hot as it is in Dallas, but, it's a close second.Lot's of layers today...I'm going to have to try and figure out later tonight how many from yesterday and the total...just for prosperity sake.
So, the executive decision, unless I hear something from Mike that says no way...I'm going to put a wash on the painting...
The reason? It looks very bright. Now, I'm not going to do the staining like the first go around...this will be a light wash that will make certain areas a little more subtle.
I'm going to do it inside so the weather won't be a factor...I'll be able to rub off the areas that need to be more vibrant, and those that need to be a little less, blah, blah, blah.
I think this will be the final stage for this painting. If the wash goes off without a hitch I'll then paint the sides and varnish one more time...Actually, I'll varnish and then paint the sides, because I want the sides to be dull...a nice frame off of the piece.
So, the waterfall inspiration on the panel worked well...with the wash it will be even deeper!
Here are the shots from today...I'll take more tomorrow after the color wash.

Yep...I'm nervous...but, here's my plan...If the wash goes well I'll be a day ahead of schedule...if it doesn't I still have 3 days...
I really want to do the wash tonight...but, I think sleeping on it and doing it first thing tomorrow will be better.
Mike, if you're reading this I'd like to have you come out tomorrow sometime or possibly thursday to give your over all approval, before wrapping up the canvases and installing...
Yikes...can it be that the painting is almost complete?

Today was really hot...I put on 5 more layers, but it didn't give me what I wanted...more tomorrow. And I'm not complaining about the heat, it was apparently 104 in Dallas today...home sweet home...

Looking for more progress on the painting tomorrow.
That's all I know.
