Cleaning

Downsizing, reorganizing,,,things for March. I have hung 15 canvases, some come complete, others that will be finished soon.

I sold a painting this weekend at Artisans Collective.

I'm Possible was one of the first big pieces I painted when I got back to Dallas. A 48x60 painting

This is a pic of the painting as it dried in my home last year.

Over 70 layers. The piece became a challenge, starting as Impossible, because painting something this big was more than a challenge, it was a bitch, falling into the canvas. Falling as I turned the canvas around. As I got closer to turning the corner on this piece, I saw the potential in new paintings and new techniques.

I hung in m home for 2 months before saying hello to the public and now it's found a new home. I couldn't be happier.

As an artist I paint so I can share. As I make piles this month, I make room for the next stage, the next chapter.

Urban Dog Art Reception Last Night!
Friday, February 19, 2010, 09:16 AM
You know, if there was ever a question in my mind that, I'm doing what I need to do, last night was a great reminder.

My Art reception at Urban Dog Coffee, was great! A mix of friends, new admirers, good wine and tasty pastries, made for a night, that reminded me of my artshows at my old place on Anita. Comfortable, Fun and Interesting.

The event was catered by, Samantha Rush...

I provided my favorite wine and art and Urban Dog Coffee, provide a nice inviting venue.

By far the most popular painting was my 36x48, called Vogue

The colors pops out at you..many people would look at the piece, but, couldn't see the girls head until they focused on the lips and went outwards. Telling her story was fun. Me trying, to create something that exuded confidence. From the colors, to the mixed media approach. My new work centers around where I am right now.

Someone said they wished I had my willpower. I just shrugged and said you do. I'm no different than anyone else. We all have our stories. Each of us doesn't know what we can handle, until we get to that point. We each have a choice. We each do what we can do.

I understand the well meaning thoughts. I now want to move from where I was, to where I am. I don't have a problem anymore of asking for help when I need it. I understand the importance of good friends. I understand the meaning of taking care of myself.

Last night was the culmination of help from several friends. Just showing up as a person, as an artist, is an ongoing lesson for myself. With the remaining shows I have this year and the projects along the way will help create a continued balance in my life.

To everyone who continues to believe in me, Thank You

Organizing Creativity...
Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 03:49 PM
This month, into next, I'll be downsizing and reorganizing. A continuing process, that rolled over into some volunteer work I'm doing, at Aids Interfaith Network of Dallas.

I've been volunteering there a month now and am finding my place in their organization.

The last 2 weeks I've been taking inventory, from fabric, to paint to...you name it.

I've been asked to organize art classes for the clients. I decided, instead of requesting new materials, we would think out of the box of creativity and make art from what we have. 2 projects are planned for March.

I go back next week to continue going thru and organizing. Watching the clients as they gather each week and starting to get to know them, reminds me of one of the most important things in life. To be heard, to be loved.

Art is a very simple part to this agency...each client worries about their health, their daily finances and other things, some of us may never experience..

I'm looking forward to getting clients involved and in charge of their own lives. Something, I've been doing everyday since I've been back in Dallas.

Tomorrow night I have an art show and I'm planning on others this Spring and Summer. I'm trying my best to think outside the box myself. Pushing limits myself...stay tuned!

Houston, The Eagle Has Landed!
Monday, February 15, 2010, 10:16 AM
On the spur of the moment a trip was planned to get out of record snow in Dallas to the warmth of Houston. My friend and fellow artist had a studio tour and we played!

This is a pic of the three of us, after a great relaxing time at Winter Street Studio Tour. Billy Miller (center) has a great space and the energy of the other artists and the area is the best. When I grow up, I wanna be like him! Mando, (left) has always been a great sidekick. The 3 of us use to do Creative Sundays, which included a bottle of wine, some paint and canvas and an open mind. There were others in this circle but, the 3 of us started the tradition of layed back Sundays

Leaving Dallas, Friday afternoon. was not an easy chore, the city has no ice trucks. The side streets were not plowed and since that's all I drive at the moment, I stayed put for 2 days. When Mando came over to drive us down, I gave him a mop to scrape off the 2 days of snow that accumulated on the car, sorry, no pics, but, trust me, it was hilarious.

Getting to Houston and spending the weekend with great friends was exactly what I needed. Laughing till your gut hurts i, sometimes the best medicine.
So many great ideas for paintings. this pic reminds me of a photo Pop took in Dallas.

Towering images gave way to blue sunny sky on Sunday

A Huge Wall of water in a Houston Park was relaxing the sound was incredible

Spending time in Billy's studio is always great! Spending time with friends? Priceless

I worked on several pieces on Saturday as visitors came thru the studio, Mando and I had a blast...hell, we even found the wine! These are a pair of my jeans that I added paint to this weekend.

I've got a busy month ahead and looking forward to it.

Hear is my V.D cane, to help celebrate Singles Awareness Day, otherwise known as Valentines Day!

Not enough time to do a Mardis Gras cane, although I have a great idea for Lent...stay tuned!
