Ot's been a while since I've blogged. It's all good though, some great things are happening. I am doing an incredible 12x12 painting of the month club with 16 members. I had my first art show of the year last Thursday and had great attendence. I am working on secveral commission pieces and I start physical therapy again this coming Wednesday.

I only fall once a day now, which sounds goofy, but is a HUGE accomplishment from last year. So I guess you could say things are changing...

The time has changed, spring is a week away, change is happening once again. Each life changes, after an experience good or bad.

We, as individuals...adults, have changed, from our past experiences. I know I'm a different man.

We change styles, opinions, tastes in food. We change our outlook on life, based on what is happening to us in the moment...It's frustrating for me, because I'm a perfectionist and pretty independent, but, the past handful of years has been a big lesson for me in asking for help. No, I dpn't do it all the time stil, but, I'm getting better-SAYS ME;-)

Press Here

So the next time I blog, I'll explain further the 12x12 project and show some pics

Let the fear not lead you

No Day, But, Today!

A good friend posted this on facebook this morning and it made me think about , how I feel about time wasted.

As I work on many projects and think of new ways to create, I get caught up in the excitement of the possibilities. Sometimes, that excitement, turns to fear and those ideas, never see reality for one reason or another.

Have you ever thought thru something and went thru the entire process in your head, without ever giving the idea or emotion a chance? I think we all have.

The fear of looking like an idiot or the simple fear of failure, keeps us in our comfort zone

Press Here

Just remember this, I feel, time is never wasted...

Living with purpose and clear focus helps you to understand the value of being meaningfully focused. And aimlessly wandering with no clear focus can also help you to appreciate the power of a positive purpose. It doesn't matter wha the focus is, just do it...do it for yourserlf.

Either way, life leads you, toward your purpose. Whether you experience the pain of losing touch with that purpose, or the joy of living with it, you grow in understanding and appreciation.

No day, no experience, no encounter is really wasted. Through the ups and downs, in the good times and in times of despair, you feel more intensely the longing to express who you truly are.

The beauty of this day, right now, is not in its particulars. The beauty is that you can take it all in, whatever and however it may be, and add it to the substance of your being.

Whatever comes along, be thankful for the opportunity to pass through it. Whatever is, go with it and grow with it.

Your purpose cannot help but become stronger, as each moment passes. Feel that strength, and live it more fully, more authentically, day after day.

Let the fear not lead you

The Plan...REALLY?

You know, all of my life I had a plan...what I was going to accomplish, where I'd be, socially, in business and in health. Here's the deal I'm slowly learning...Life is in charge, not me.

The one thing I know at 46 is, Do What You Love, Love What You Do! That and I don't know SHIT, but, it's fun learning. And in one word after the past 4 years is FLEXIBILITY.

What does that word mean to you?

It's important to plan carefully, and it is just as important to be flexible. Success and achievement usually do not end up coming about in exactly the way you planned.
While it is vital to have a realistic, workable method for getting from here to there Let me take that back...it never does, Remember to keep in mind that the plan is not the goal. To reach the goal, you may need to change the original plan, or at least certain parts of the plan.

Just because something goes wrong along the way and the plan doesn't work, does not mean that the goal is unreachable. I think it signals to you that it's time to be more flexible.

Flexibility to me, means being committed to your plan without being completely dependent on it. Flexibility means being open to the numerous other options available to you.

For anything you want to attain, there are many ways to get there. When one path becomes blocked, don't turn back.

Instead, look for a workable detour and get busy moving again. You may soon find that the going is even better than you could have imagined.

Make it a good week...make it a great month!

Press Here

Let the fear not lead you

THE WEEK, IS WELL UNDER WAY

Many great things happening. Why? Because I'm allowing them to happen.

You know we all have battles that we fight on an ongoing basis, health, monetary...hell, just living-but you gotta di what you gotta do and not give up, in whatever it is you're doing.

Press Here

I think to accomplish something, you keep it at the front of your mind for the entire time necessary to complete it....and it always takes longer-ugh. When your mind becomes distracted and wanders off,(mine always does) the accomplishment is delayed until your attention is back on track. Achievement requires not just a momentary focus, but a continuing focus.

Every moment is an opportunity to move yourself closer to the goals you have set for yourself. Yet many of those moments are often wasted due to lack of focus and direction. This can be used as a good excuse, I've used it many many times and still do.

What will you do during the next hour? Imagine looking back on that hour tomorrow, or next week. Will you be glad you used it wisely, or will you regret wasting it? Regret is a powerful emotion, yet it usually does us no good because we can't change the past. So visualize the pain of your future regret, and take the actions necessary to avoid it right now, while you still can.

You have complete control over your thoughts, and your thoughts control your actions. Keep remembering what's really important to you. Keep it at the front of your mind, and it will happen in your life.

We all have battles and most can be better overtaken with help from friends...Let them help. (this is a note to me, more than anything)

Let the fear not lead you

New Me....

I was diagnosed with PML a handful of years ago. My world was turned upside down, by a virus, that would block everything I learned up until that moment. Things like, walking, talking, just taking care of myself became more than a goal for me, it's my life.

Recently, with the shooting in Arizona and brain trauma that Gabriel Gifford is experiencing, I see the physical therapy that she's going to have to endure. I cry each time I see it on the news, as it reminds me of my journey...my continuing journey. My journey is not the exact same, the brain, like the human spirit is a very delicate and complex thing.

I'm doing things, that, I want to do. I listen to my body and move forward, one day at a time.

I've learned in my own little world that anything is possible. As Pop put's it, my "Airy Fairy" "Artsy Fartsy", whatever Mom, you weren't around every time we talked...Love Ya! ways, have gotten me this far and they are going to take me the rest of the way.

I'm learning more than ever about the "new" me. Still easily frustrated and very annoyed with patience, but, with each obstacle, I look at it in the eyes and take it on. Sometimes winning, sometimes, losing-always, learning.

I've had a rough month, starting the new year...when I get down, this is what I tel myself:

Look in the direction of what you think you cannot do, of what you've been reluctant to undertake. You'll see a pathway that leads to new levels of success and achievement.

You've already done all the comfortable and familiar things. To create new value, step out into new territory.

You've already successfully adjusted to countless new situations. You've already been able to move forward through all kinds of challenges.

Now is the time to make use of that ability again. Now is when you can boldly venture into new, valuable, productive, effective territory and raise yourself to an even higher level than before.

The fact that the challenges are daunting, serves to make the rewards that much greater. You have what it takes to meet those challenges and reach those rewards.

Open yourself to the opportunities of living the best way you know how and making significant, continuing contributions to your world. Follow the possibilities into a bright, new territory of achievement and value.

Today is all we have. I'm beginning to realize, slowly, but, surely, that the "new" me, is no different from the "old"

Let the fear, not lead you

Family and getting Creative...

Getting back from a relaxing visit back home during the holidays, I had a lot of time to reflect.

Reflecting on how blessed I am to have such a supportive family. A patchwork of personalities, with different views on living, yet, respecting each other.

I painted a piece when I got to my home after unpacking...

My camera is on it's last leg, so please excuse the fact that it's out of focus. I wanted to convey the feeling of a sort of patch work of love if that makes sense.

The painting is meant to celebrate the life of my family. That and the fact that it's been gray and gloomy here.

It's always tough to think creatively, when it's gray outside.

On thinking creatively:

There's more than one way to reach the goal. There's more than one way to solve the problem. More than one way to skin a cat...how many times have you heard that?

When you seem to be stuck, get creative. When the possibilities aren't to your liking, open your mind and make some more.

There's no reason why you must do things the same way they've always been done. You can learn much from past experience, yet you can also improve upon it.

Today is a new day and you're more knowledgeable than ever. Get creative and develop some new strategies for going forward.

Creativity is not limited to artistic or literary pursuits. Creativity can be successfully applied to any undertaking.

Sometimes a simple hug is all we need to keep going. I tried to do that back home. My patchwork family is full of lovr. We make it happen in our own way...

Make each effort fun and interesting by applying some delightful creativity to it. Get creative, and enjoy more success than ever before.

Press Here

The year is just starting, there are many things going on for each of us. This is the time to decide it's going to be a good year...a creative year

Let the fear not lead you

Thoughts On Art...

I'm about to undertake a pretty large project. A friend gave me the idea and it's blossoming, before my eyes.

600 canvases were bought last week, more will be bought very soon. I'll talk more about it in the coming weeks.

As I'm working thru the essetasils of the program, I sometimes get bogged down with the business of the idea, an essential aspect of project, but, sometimes for me the drag of the project.

With that in mind, I wrote this for myself to read each time I fall into that megative thought...

When we peel away all of the constructs that society has accreted around the core truth of “art” the business of art, the status of art, the cultural importance of art we are left with nothing more than a playful, curious human impulse, an impulse that knows neither its ultimate destination nor how it may finally arrive.
The Arts / Peter Coyo

Let the Fear not Lead You

LIFE...

I'm back home in Dallas, after a nice visit with my family in Missouri. Seeing family and relaxing was the perfect way to end a busy year.

Something happened to me, very unexpected on the trip. After Christmas, at my younger brothers home, I had a seizure and was taken by ambulance into the emergency room. I was also unconscience.

After coming to, I went through some tests, including a cat scan. Nothing was found and I was sent home. The remainder of the visit, although short, was also quiet.

I was afraid to an extent to come back to Dallas. So many unknowns. Was the seizure going to happen again?

I really want to slap anyone who says take one day at a time...to you, I respectfully say BITE ME.

With that said, I understand the sentiment. It's just a very frustrating thing...and so I continue:

Yesterday I had an appoint with my doc and he wasn't concerned. He said and we knew this, that seizures can happen. There was no weakening in my body mass and my weight is up.

I will be scheduling an MRI soon as well as an appointment with a neurologist.

I'm not driving, which is very frustrating.

I am doing a new project and bought60 12x12 canvases yesterday.

I'm so glad I'm back and this event, reminded me that you never know...none us do. As you sit there reading this and going thru your daily routine, think about what might happen if something unexpected would happen in your life. What would you do? No really, what would you do, beyond saying we could all get hit by a bus tomorrow...what if you did?

with that in mind, I give you my tag line for 2011. A friend said this to me in an email-LET NOT THE FEAR, LEAD YOU

And on fear

What do you fear? Whatever it is, know that it is holding you back, preventing you from completely fulfilling your potential. One of the most powerful things you can do, I think, is to eliminate whatever is holding you back. There is great opportunity in whatever you fear, when you can get past the fear, as funky as that sounds.

Fear is very useful, screwy as it is, as a way of preparing us to cope with a potentially dangerous situation, whether that danger is physical, financial, or spiritual. Fear heightens our awareness and increases our energy level. Fear is not meant to stop us, but rather to prepare us for challenge.

Courage is not the lack of fear. Even the courageous feel fear. Courage is the ability to move forward through the fear. Courage is fully feeling the fear, and using the power of fear to confront whatever is feared. Simply put, Courage ids feeling the fear and doing it anyway

And so I take on the day and the year and hope you do too

Let the fear, not lead you
